Business and Crafts: Rendering House, Blacksmith, Rentals, Buyer
How a player can earn money: Bruce's rendering house, orders from Hector, renting out housing, RIK the buyer, trading licenses.
Bruce's rendering house
A public rendering house by the pier.
- Batch: from 500 g to 10 kg of raw whale blubber at a time. Time: 2 minutes per kilogram (10 kg = 20 minutes). Fuel: 1 plank for every 2.5 minutes (10 kg = 8 planks).
- Yield is 50 % (rancid blubber gives 25 %); Bruce takes 10 % of the yield (burned), so fresh blubber gives 45 % in total.
- The result is "Rendered whale blubber" measured in grams; a slot is a barrel of up to 20,000 g. If you don't have a barrel, you need an empty barrel (planks ×12, metal ×4, rope ×1, 15 ASD).
- The batch is stored on the server in real time and survives logging out. One batch per player.
- Bruce's quests: 2,000 g of raw blubber → an empty barrel and +1 reputation; 3,000 g of rendered blubber → 150 ASD and +2 reputation; 3 grilled whale meat → +3 reputation. After that, a daily order: 2 grilled whale meat → +1 reputation.
- "Lanterns of Vankli": 2 kg of rendered blubber = +1 reputation (up to +5 a day).
- Your own rendering house: the rendering cauldron is forged by Hector (2,500 ASD + 25 metal; requires Whaler and Seafarer, Lv. 33, rep. 40), but placing the station isn't ready yet (coming soon).
Orders from Hector
The blacksmith takes one order per player; the finished order goes to your bag (or waits at Hector's until you pick it up). Time runs on the real clock.
| Order | Fee, ASD | Materials | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Harpoon | 1,500 | stick ×2, metal ×15, rope ×2, planks ×2 | 3 min |
| Whaling harpoon | 9,000 (minus the trade-in credit) | harpoon, ilmenite 375 g, metal ×20, rope ×3, planks ×2, rendered blubber 500 g | 5 min |
| PMK gas mask | 9,000 | GP-5, leather ×6, ilmenite 300 g, sulfur 500 g, blubber 1,000 g | 5 min |
| FPK filter | 150 | 2 weak filters, blubber 100 g, leather ×1 | 2 min |
| Rendering cauldron | 2,500 | metal ×25 | 4 min |
Hector also sells ready-made items: harpoon 3,000 ASD, FPK filter 350 ASD. He buys back an old harpoon for 375 ASD (1 a day) and gives a 2,250 ASD credit toward forging a whaling harpoon. He repairs harpoons and masks. The whaling harpoon and the cauldron require the Whaler and Seafarer licenses, Lv. 33, rep. 40. Money paid to NPCs is burned.
Renting out housing
A house owner rents it out with the /let nick days price command (7, 14 or 30 days; 10–100 ASD a day). The tenant pays up front, and 10 % is burned; in a rented house the tenant can have no more than 4 of their own crates. Listings are posted on signboards. If a rental ends early, the tenant gets back only the unused part (at the day's average price). Storage at TOR's: a crate costs 5 ASD a day.
RIK the buyer
Any player from Lv. 5 can sell him resources for 55 % of the list price (price list in Economy). Cap: 450 ASD a day, combined with the job board.
Working on tasks
The job board and Enlil, see Job Board.
Your own business: a company (coming soon)
The Buyer and Company Charter licenses (9,000 ASD) are meant to let you open your own firm with a brand and a trading stall, while Merchant, Food Trade, Armor, Building Materials and Weapons are the stall trade lines. For now this is "coming soon"; details on the Marketplace and Stalls page.
Craft licenses
The Healer (brewing medicine), Alchemist (elixirs and poisons), Blacksmith (forging and repairing for others) and Priest licenses are "coming soon".
