Survival
Health, thirst, hunger, energy, sleep, death and your loot bag, rain and getting wet, radiation, level and stats.
You have to keep an eye on your character at all times. There are four meters on screen: health, fullness, thirst, energy.
Meters
| Meter | How it drains | What happens at zero |
|---|---|---|
| Health (HP) | damage from animals, hunger, thirst, radiation; you start with 100 HP | death |
| Thirst | empties in about 60 minutes | health loss (≈ −1 HP every 3 seconds) |
| Hunger | empties in about 90 minutes | health loss |
| Energy (fatigue) | empties in about 4 hours; faster when running and attacking | fainting |
Running and attacking burn energy faster; when hunger or thirst is below 25 %, energy drains even faster. Health regenerates on its own as long as you're fed and watered.
Water
- River (freshwater): walk up to the water and press F for a sip (+15 thirst). Sea water won't do.
- Well (6 in total): drink and fill all your flasks at the same time (+40 thirst per use).
- Leather flask: 3 sips; refill it at a river or a well. An empty flask doesn't disappear. Each flask takes its own slot.
Food
Berries from bushes and healing corn go into your backpack (if it's full, berries are eaten right away). Meat and fish must be cooked on a campfire. See Food and Water.
Sleep and energy
| Method | Cost | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Your own sleeping bag or bed | free | energy up to 100 %; food and water are not restored |
| Nap on the base's outdoor sleeping bag | 33 ASD | energy up to 50 %, no food or water |
| RIK's hostel | 77 ASD | energy 100 % and one meal (food and water) |
Sleeping in multiplayer doesn't fast-forward time. Your body is visible to other players while you sleep.
Fainting (energy 0): you don't drop any items; you wake up where you fell with 15 % energy and weakness for 5 minutes (−20 % speed). You can faint again no more than once every 10 minutes.
Death and your bag
- When you die, your gear and money drop into a bag at the spot where you died.
- The bag stays for 60 minutes, then disappears. On the map (M) it's marked with a green circle, "My bag".
- You wake up at your bed or sleeping bag (if you don't have one, at the shared sleeping bag at the base) with 80 % health and 60 % food and water, with no weakness.
- You take your own money from your own bag for free. Cash from someone else's bag comes with a 7 % loss. Looting other players' bags is considered shameful and hurts your reputation.
Rain and getting wet
Weather is shared by all players on the server. In the rain your character gets soaked in about 40 seconds (clothes darken and shine), and dries off in about three minutes after the rain. You won't get wet under a roof. This is a visual effect; any effect on cold and damage is TBD.
Radiation (Land of the Rotten)
Only on the radioactive island. You need a gas mask with a filter, otherwise your health drains fast. See Islands and Armor and Clothing.
Level and stats
- Your level grows with XP (hunting, quests, crafting). The maximum is 100. XP to the next level: 150 × 1.0844^(level − 1); about 5.4 million XP in total to reach level 100 (1,908 by level 10, 10,647 by level 25, 92,432 by level 50).
- Each level gives you a stat point (panel O): health +10 HP per point, stamina, carry weight (base 50 kg, cap 250 kg), melee damage +5 %, speed. Investment limits are TBD.
- Engram points (blueprints): 3 per level, see Crafting and Engrams.
