Licenses

TOR's license registry: required level and reputation, prices, fees, and what each license unlocks.

Licenses are issued by TOR, the Chief, in the Administration House. To see your licenses and their terms, use /licenses or the Journal (B). A license unlocks an action in the game (for example, a fishing rod won't work without a Fisher license).

Rules

  • A license is bought once for ASD (the price depends on your reputation rank: "Acquaintance" gets −3%, "Name of the Order" gets −15%, "Riffraff" and "Outcast" pay +25%).
  • Starter licenses (Resident, Guard, Fisher, Stonecutter, Miner, Hunter) are permanent. The rest are paid: 10% of the price per month. If you don't pay, the license is suspended (not lost); being more than a month overdue adds +25% and costs −3 reputation.
  • Your first license in a new field gives +5 reputation.
  • Active professions at the same time: 2, plus 1 for every 20 levels.
  • "Coming soon" means the license is on the list but can't be bought yet ("Vankli will take care of this business later").

How to get one

TOR sells licenses in the Administration House: you need to be a registered resident and have enough level and reputation, the money, and all prerequisite licenses. Some licenses are given for free through the story (Resident, Guard with a 113 ASD advance, Miner). Terms and payments: the /licenses command. The Ruler's Mandate isn't for sale: the Council grants it on application (one per server).

Registry

In the table: "Rep." is the minimum reputation; "Requires" lists licenses you must already have before buying; "Fee" is the monthly fee of 10% of the price or "permanent"; "Status": starter means part of the starter set (permanent, doesn't count toward the profession limit), available means on sale now, coming soon means it can't be bought yet.
